ABOUT KSYC

Educate. Motivate. Empower.
Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre is a community-led space providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for young people aged 10–18 in the rural town of Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. We exist to fill a gap, where young people can just be themselves. No pressure, no judgement, just community, support, and opportunity.
We're open four nights a week with split age sessions:
Monday and Thursday : Ages 10–13: 6–8pm
Tuesday and Saturday : Ages 14+: 6.30–8.30pm
Our work focuses on improving young people’s mental health, emotional wellbeing, social skills, and self-worth through "secret learning". Embedding personal development and life skills into fun, creative, and meaningful activities.
Each month has a core theme (e.g., Mental Health, Kindness, Empowerment, Safety), and all activities are designed around that theme — from workshops and arts to sports and open discussions.

Our Mission
At Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre, our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space where all young people feel welcome, supported, and empowered — no matter their background, ability, or circumstance.
We exist to educate, motivate, and empower the next generation through creative activities, trusted relationships, and opportunities to grow in confidence, kindness, and connection.
But we can’t do it alone.
Volunteer with us.
We rely on the generosity of donations and the dedication of volunteers to keep our doors open and our sessions running. From behind-the-scenes admin and coordination to mentoring, creative planning, and offering a warm welcome at every session.
Every helping hand and kind contribution makes a real difference.
If you believe in what we do, we’d love your support. Enquire now to get involved.
